Arron Arsenault
Arron, what were you up to before coming here?
I was a journeyman scaffolder at the refinery and the mills, and I did some scaffolding and shrink-wrapping (non-union) out West too. Earlier this year, I went to another welding program for six months before dropping out. I was only getting 6 or 8 hours of welding experience in the booth a week, and then every 7th or 8th week, they gave us a week off! We didn’t even have class on Fridays, and that wasn’t working for me. During that time, I heard about Ready Arc from a number of individuals. They said it was a real welding course that actually cared and wanted to help people become good welders. I was pushed here by a few individuals, and now I’m so glad I came and dropped out of the other course.
Why welding?
My grandfather owns a small welding company. I’ve helped him build boats and work on numerous other projects over the years. I used to work with him and it was what I really wanted to do the whole time. It just never panned out until now. I was not happy as a scaffolder, and I wanted to make a change to better my life.
What made you choose Ready Arc?
It was simply the better option. Smaller class, no extra nonsense, no BS. You’re in the booth every single day of the week and you’re in the classroom every morning. The way the whole course is set up is just excellent, and I couldn’t be happier. I want to get my son into this course too when he’s old enough, he’s in high school now.
So, how were your six months with us?
It was a brutal gauntlet of pain (kidding, kind of). It was tough and I’m glad it’s over and I made it through, but I learned so much. I came here not really knowing what to expect at first, and leaving here, I feel like I know how to weld properly. It’s extra interesting since I was already in another welding course right before, so I can see all the differences. It’s a night and day difference with Ready Arc. Steve and Jason and Marius were all excellent and Steve really came through for us, took the reins and showed everybody what they needed to know.
You made it to graduation day. What’s next?
I’m really hoping to join the Boilermakers and just make a good life for myself. I 100% believe that I’ve been given the skills to do that by coming here to Ready Arc.
